Season 4 – Speakeasy – Front and Center Entertainment

- SEASON 4 -

Sting & Shaggy

On the surface an unlikely pairing, their 2018 collaboration 44/876 (named for the area codes of their native UK and Jamaica) inspired a friendship that here fuels a hilarious – and profound – conversation based on questions submitted by fans.  The two talk ‘desert island discs,’ Lewis Carroll, Miles Davis, their common link to James Bond and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang author Ian Fleming, ‘sheroes,’ laundry day, and more, including former teacher Sting’s view of Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me” as a modern morality play. Filmed at the McKittrick Hotel’s Manderley Bar in New York City.

Joe Elliott &
David Fricke

The Def Leppard front man opens up to Rolling Stone editor/author Fricke (Animal Instinct: The Def Leppard Story) about the band’s trajectory– from the teen hijinks of the band first conceived out of boredom as “Deaf Leopard” in post-war England through changes in the lineup and their continuing legacy headlining with opening acts that were once their aspirational idols.    Elliott reveals what makes a great band, why a good rhyme trumps proper geography for a hit song, how modern rock training may be the worst thing for the future of rock music, living with the spectre of Hysteria, and more. Filmed at the Iridium in New York City.

Lenny Kravitz &
Sean Lennon

Four-time Grammy ® Award winner Kravitz, a collaborator and mentor for Lennon since they played at a John Lennon tribute concert in the Eighties, gets comfortable in conversation through their shared experiences of music, childhood with celebrity parents, and an appreciation of the power of positivity in creativity.  Lennon’s detailed research and off the beaten path questions leads to some unexpected revelations including Kravitz’s early days classically trained in the California Boys Choir, his range of influences beyond the expected Sixties sounds from the Carpenters to Gladys Knight, and the role family played throughout his career.

Lynyrd Skynyrd &
Rob Tannenbaum

Southern rock icons Gary Rossington, Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke open up like no past interview they’ve done, including the story behind their return after a decade-long hiatus. Filmed at New York City’s Triad Theater.

Michael McDonald & Russ Titelman

The Grammy Award-winning front man of Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers and his longtime producer reveal his career from early influences through their latest collaboration on McDonald’s fourth solo studio album, Blink of an Eye. Filmed at the Triad Theater in New York City.

Bill Gibbons &
Eric Holland

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Billy Gibbons is joined by WFUV’s Eric Holland at New York City’s The Iridium.  The pair discuss Gibbons’ career as the frontman and guitarist for Texas Trio ZZ Top and his sophomore solo album The Big Bad Blues.
